The Pook-SALPA watch is planned together with the active reservists and together we wanted to tell a story with the watch, which is still a common theme of the will to defend the whole reserve work today. The name of the watch is SALPA.
The Salpa line, or rather the original name of the Finnish Salpa, is the result of an extremely hard, maximum work of 35,000 men and 2,000 Lota, in 1940-41 and 1944.
In 1940, on the basis of the plans and initiative of the Headquarters, the construction of a fortress line began, which was a constantly stopping attack by the Red Army on Finland.
The end of the fortification work that began after the Winter War resulted in a 1,200-kilometer-long line of defense, known above all for its concrete, mostly wedge-shaped massive-sized armor barriers. This backbone of the Finnish border was never needed, but especially in the summer of 1944, when the Red Army’s major attack on the west led to this, this was an important spiritual backbone for the Finnish defenders soldiers.
Pook Salpa is a Finnish watch that is assembled at Pook Watches’ watch workshop in Joensuu.
The watch is sold in three different versions, all of which follow the story of the Finnish Salpalinja.
As our partner, members of various reserve associations get their own watch in a special package. The watch is delivered to the members of the Reserve Officers’ Union packed in a field pocket with the blue logo of RUL with a velcro fastening. Similarly, members of the Reserve Association will receive their Pook Salpa watch packed in a field pocket with a Velcro fastening with the Reserve Association logo.
The entire watch collection is serialized starting with the serial number 1940.1. All models have a 3-year warranty. The watch costs 285 euros (incl. VAT) ordered in advance.
Delivery for watch preoders have been started, watches are delivered in order time.
Today, Suomen Salpalinja is the largest construction site ever made in Finland. It is an incredible example of the strength of the national defense skills of the whole nation and today’s reminder of the will for national defense that unites all Finns. It is also the basis for Finnish reservist work. That is why we are collecting Pook Salpa watches together with RUL and the Reserve Association to support the Finnish war veteran organizations.
